Child Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Introduction

Quranlingo is a Quran language-learning platform designed for users of all ages, including children. We take the privacy of young users seriously and are committed to complying with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other applicable child privacy laws.
This Children's Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from children under 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), how we use and protect that information, and the rights parents and guardians have over their child's data. By allowing your child to use Quranlingo, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

Information Collected from Children Under 13

We collect only what is necessary to create an account and provide the Quranlingo service. For children under 13, this includes:
  • Name or display name: This can be a nickname or alias; it does not have to be the child's real name.
  • Parent or guardian's email address: Used to obtain parental consent, send account-related notifications, and allow the parent to manage the child's account.
  • Learning progress data: Completed lessons, chapters, stages, earned XP, points, streaks, and league standings — tied to the account to track educational progress.
  • Device and usage data: Device type, operating system, app version, and general usage patterns collected to maintain app stability and improve the educational experience.
  • Push notification token: Used solely to deliver learning reminders and account notifications if enabled by the parent.
We do not collect addresses, phone numbers, payment information, or photos from children. We do not allow children to share personal information publicly within the app. We do not condition a child's participation on providing more personal data than is reasonably necessary to use the service.

Parental Consent

In compliance with COPPA, we require a parent or guardian's consent before a child under 13 can use Quranlingo. During sign-up, we request a parent or guardian's email address for any user identified as under 13. We send a notification to that address describing our data practices and requesting confirmation of consent. The account is activated only after the parent has confirmed.
If a parent does not confirm consent, the child's account will not be activated and any information collected during registration will be removed. A parent can also withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at [email protected] or by submitting a request through our account deletion form.

Parental Dashboard

Quranlingo provides a parental dashboard through which parents and guardians can monitor their child's learning activity. Through the dashboard, a parent may access:
  • The child's learning progress, including completed lessons and chapters
  • XP, points, streak data, and league standings
  • Account settings and notification preferences
Access to the parental dashboard is available through a separate paid subscription. The dashboard displays data already associated with the child's account and does not involve any additional collection of personal information. Only the parent or guardian linked to the child's account has access to this view.

Use and Disclosure of Children's Data

We use personal information collected from children solely to provide and support the Quranlingo service. Specifically:
  • Account creation and authentication: Name and email are used to set up the child's account and authenticate access.
  • Progress tracking: Learning progress data is stored to allow the child to resume where they left off and to display achievements and league standings.
  • Parental visibility: Progress and account data are made available to the linked parent or guardian through the parental dashboard.
  • Notifications: If enabled by the parent, we use the registered email or push token to send learning reminders. These can be disabled at any time through account settings.
We do not sell, rent, or share children's personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing. We may share data with trusted service providers (such as cloud infrastructure, email delivery, and analytics providers) solely to the extent necessary to operate the service, and only under agreements that require those providers to protect the data and use it for no other purpose.
Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, and Advertising: Quranlingo uses the Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel (marketing tracking tools) on its marketing website (quranlingo.com) and on the parent dashboard (parents.quranlingo.app). These pixels track adult-facing actions such as subscription sign-ups and marketing page visits for advertising measurement purposes on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. They are not present in the Quranlingo mobile app that children use, and they do not process any personal data collected from children. The learning progress data and account information associated with a child's profile are never shared with Meta or TikTok or used for advertising targeting. Both pixels fire only after an adult user has granted cookie consent.

Parental Rights

Under COPPA, GDPR, and other applicable laws, parents and guardians have the right to review, correct, and request deletion of their child's personal information, and to refuse further collection or use of that data.
If you are a parent or guardian, you may at any time:
  • Review or access data: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about your child.
  • Request correction: Ask us to update any inaccurate information associated with your child's account.
  • Request deletion: Ask us to delete your child's account and all associated personal data from our records.
  • Withdraw consent: Revoke permission for further data collection, which will require deleting the child's account to prevent any future data processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected] or submit a request through our account deletion form. We will verify that you are the child's parent or guardian before fulfilling the request and will respond promptly in accordance with applicable law.

Data Retention

We retain children's personal information only for as long as the account remains active or as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Upon a verified deletion request from a parent or guardian, we will promptly remove the child's personal data from our systems. Note that removal from backup systems may take a short additional period, but data will not be used for any purpose after a deletion request is confirmed.

Security

Quranlingo implements industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect children's personal information. These include:
  • Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS for all communications between the app and our servers
  • Application-level AES-256 encryption for sensitive data
  • Cryptographic hashing of passwords — passwords are never stored in readable form
  • Access controls that restrict personal data to authorized personnel only
While we apply these protections rigorously, no system is completely immune to risk. We encourage parents to maintain the confidentiality of any account credentials and to contact us immediately at [email protected] if they suspect any unauthorized access.
